hourglass scattered light

Hourglass Scattered Light is my favourite way to add shimmer to a makeup look.

I wear glitter all year round. I love it. Many of my clients however, prefer a satin or matte finish. I get it, glitter can be messy and sometimes perceived as OTT. What if I told you there was a product that offers instant sparkle, impact AND an effortless, sophisticated vibe? Perfect for drinks with the girls, date nights and weddings. Hello Hourglass Scattered Light, you beauty.

I would describe Scattered Light as an eyeshadow topper. This is because I tend to apply it over a cream eyeshadow base. The formula is unusual – a cream/powder hybrid. As a result, it’s easy to apply with a finger or flat shadow brush and there’s minimal fall-out. It is glitter, but not as we know it. The product is a mix of finely milled soft glitter, pigment and light reflective pearl particles. Resulting in a chic, refined, prismatic eye look. Glitter has grown up, and it’s absolutely divine.

Personally, I like to team this product with a relaxed smudgy liner and lashings of mascara. It keeps it cool and slightly undone (my desired style). This would work beautifully for a bridal makeup look. On the other hand, if you’re into smokey eyes and false lashes, scattered light would work perfectly as an inner corner shadow or to create a spotlight/cut crease.

Hourglass Scattered Light Shades

Molten – Ray – Foil

There are a curated range of shades available. For instance, Ray is one of the neutral shades and would be a great option for most skin tones. It works beautifully over a brown cream shadow. If you’re looking for something unique, Vivid is a gorgeous olive green shade (and my personal favourite).

I purchased a Scattered Light set in the Christmas sales (this is a great way to try new makeup). They’re available in individual shades for £28.00 all year round at Cult Beauty and other high-end beauty retailers.

Hourglass Scattered Light features frequently on my Instagram account. Head there to see different ways I incorporate this product into my makeup looks.
