FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHICH AREAS DO YOU COVER?

I work from two bases, West Cumbria and East Leeds. I’m originally a Workington girl but recently I’ve expanded my business to cover Leeds too. I’m happy to travel up to an hour and a half for weddings.

Please note if you are interested in hiring me for a photoshoot I’m prepared to travel to most of the UK.

DO YOU OFFER MOBILE APPOINTMENTS?

For special occasion makeup, trials and lessons I prefer to work from a studio but mobile appointments may be available on request. This very much depends on how many back to back appointments I have booked in that day.

I always travel to the bride on the wedding day (a travel fee may apply).

WHERE IS THE STUDIO?

Cumbria – I have my own studio in the CA14 area.
Leeds – Paragon Hair and Beauty Studio, Whitkirk.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?

I began my training in 2013 and started my business in April 2014. I was lucky enough to study at a prestigious makeup academy, AOFM in London. Very early in my career I worked on fashion photoshoots, before deciding to settle back home in the Lake District and specialise in bridal makeup.

I’ve now made up hundreds of faces – all different ages and skin types. I’m experienced in all styles of makeup and pride myself on my versatility.

HOW MUCH WILL MY WEDDING MAKEUP COST?

I’m very transparent about my pricing. You can find all the information on my Price List page. For brides, a makeup trial and makeup on the day costs £110.00 but I split it £45.00 on the trial day and £65.00 on the wedding invoice.

I don’t charge for travel if I’m working locally. However it’s important to include the location in your enquiry so I can provide an accurate quote. A typical example would be £20.00 for the Penrith area, which is an hour from my home.

Whilst I have a set pricing structure, I will reduce the price if someone in your bridal party prefers to wear very little makeup (for example,  a simple eye look and a very natural base). This is something that can be discussed at the time of booking.

I ask for a 50% deposit to secure the date.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN YOU FIT IN ON MY WEDDING MORNING?

This depends on what time you need to be ready and the chosen style of makeup (winged liner, false lashes, sculpting and bold lips all add on extra time).

I have a lot of experience in scheduling wedding mornings and can work quickly, but sometimes I just can’t manage a large bridal party in the available time. It’s very important to be realistic in what can and can’t be achieved to avoid a stressful morning or a late bride! In this case I may be able to arrange an assistant or recommended another makeup artist to split the work.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A TRIAL?

Bridal trials are a requirement, however there are special circumstances where it’s not always possible and I’ll accept your booking regardless. In which case, I will ask you to sign a disclaimer.

I highly recommend bridal party trials but they are not essential.

HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT TAKE?

Special Occasion Makeup: Up to 1 hour.

Trials:  Usually 90 minutes – 2 hours.

Lessons: 2-3 hours.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN I BOOK?

For weddings you can officially book up to 18 months in advance. I’m more than happy for you to enquire up to two years in advance, but I won’t take a deposit immediately. Please note, I have a minimum of 3 people requirement for Saturday weddings.

For individual bookings you can book up to 6 months in advance for Sunday – Friday appointments and 2 months in advance for Saturdays.

WHICH BRANDS DO YOU USE?

In my kit you’ll find a wide range of luxury brands (although I do have a few budget gems that I love). My favourites are Charlotte Tilbury and NARS, but I also use MAC, Bobbi Brown and Urban Decay (to name a few).

I DON’T USUALLY WEAR A LOT OF MAKEUP AND I’M NERVOUS.

Don’t panic! I love doing all styles of makeup. We can work together, step by step, and come up with a light, minimal look that enhances your features. For example, we can use a tinted moisturiser or just skip the foundation altogether. My goal is to provide a relaxing, comfortable service and help you to feel fabulous.

DO YOU OFFER MAKEUP LESSONS?

Yes I do! In January 2018 I started offering 1-2-1 and group makeup lessons. I felt it was time to start sharing my extensive knowledge of makeup and skincare. I also used to be a school teacher so planning and delivering lessons comes very naturally to me.

The lessons are tailored to your requirements, enjoyable and interactive. There’s something for everyone, from the absolute beginner, to aspiring MUA’s (non accredited).

There’s absolutely no pressure. You can get involved with the brushes or simply relax and watch a demonstration. Some of my groups have even brought a bottle of bubbly and snacks to make it an extra special treat!

CAN YOU INCLUDE MY OWN MAKEUP?

My answer to this is usually yes! If you have a product you love of course I’ll do my best to incorporate it. This can be especially useful if you have very sensitive skin or allergies and you would prefer to stick to products you’ve tested.

Occasionally there will be times when I advise you try something from my kit. A good example is Double Wear foundation on brides – not a good choice because of the flash back when photographed.
